The goal of the Securing VFC Vaccines webinar is to provide VFC offices with education and resources for improving vaccine temperature monitoring and storage & handling practices. This training will feature a detailed discussion on the use of Digital Data Loggers (DDL’s). This training will help providers develop protocols and practices within their office to ensure vaccine efficacy & safety. Specific topic area covered will include:

• How to respond to temperature excursions
• Vaccine and thermometer placement
• Temperature reporting requirements
• Temperature monitoring and documentation
• Appropriate procedures for receiving vaccines
• Proper vaccine storage units
• Maintaining the vaccine cold chain
• Corrective action plans and follow up
• Procedures for preventing, reporting and returning expired/wasted/spoiled vaccine
